Two halves of a witch hazel make a pair

With best regards…

I send you a very personal greeting

from the beautiful Bad Pyrmont. Look forward to this postcard from me.

I would like to receive this limited edition postcard

The original collage depicted on the postcard measures about 5 x 5 cm. The scale is about one to one. The little birds on the perch come from the seed pods of the witch hazel. Also known as witch hazel. I found these two here in the Bad Pyrmont spa park. Typical plant remains that I like to add to art. Compost would have been the alternative. By the way, the wings come from bumblebees that I picked up after their death. No animal was harmed! I was able to save the beautiful wings and lead them to the higher destiny in this extraordinary work. You’re welcome! And honestly: I was once again completely unintentional on the road. So have fun with the two courting witch hazel stilts 🙂

By the way, by sending you this postcard, I would like to promise you the blue of the sky – the name of the butterfly on my stamp is “Himmelsfalter”. Sein grandioses Blau ist wirklich beeindruckend.

The title of my collage, which you will find on the stamp, is “Augenblick”. Here I have processed a real butterfly wing. By the way, the corresponding butterfly has been able to experience its natural end of life. As I said – it’s all about detail in every way.

The celestial butterfly will soon flutter into your house.

Please be sure to frank my postcard with this unique stamp

In the miniature collages of Magdalena Hohlweg every little leftover enters the stage what otherwise seems to be absolutly irrelevant Not only because of the insignificance of the processed materials, but also because of the minimal dimensions. The last dry flower remnants, lost and already somewhat scraped buttons, dried-up seed capsules – here they find themselves again – awakened in miraculous order to surprising life.

“I stick micro-waste on paper!”

With this concise statement, the consideration could theoretically be ended. But…

that would mean to miss the best… After all, in my works you will find a lot that you would not have assumed that it is worth even remotely a discussion.

Personally, the big and especially important things in life have sometimes blocked my eyes. I had to learn what was really valuable. And I realize that depending on your point of view, the world looks different for everyone. Let’s just go into the details from this point…

Here you can find fresh art: life rages on a few square centimeters. For feeding, there are all kinds of seed birds. Come a little closer. Here there is only good to get – fresh art.

This is already a snippet of other quirky and bizarre habitats that I develop with my collages. Let’s get carry away and ramble on! Celebrate with me the art of slowness.

Please send me a postcard – While supplies last

I only commission these prints from some of my collages. If an edition is sold out, I prefer to choose other excerpts from my work.

I want such a collector’s item

The small collages are photographed with elaborate technology in order to depict them as realistically and colorfast as possible. This print here gives the original very vividly I think.
