In the miniature collages of Magdalena Hohlweg every little leftover enters the stage what otherwise seems to be absolutly irrelevant Not only because of the insignificance of the processed materials, but also because of the minimal dimensions. The last dry flower remnants, lost and already somewhat scraped buttons, dried-up seed capsules - here they find themselves again - awakened in miraculous order to surprising life.
"I stick micro-waste on paper!"
With this concise statement, the consideration could theoretically be ended. But...
that would mean to miss the best... After all, in my works you will find a lot that you would not have assumed that it is worth even remotely a discussion.
Personally, the big and especially important things in life have sometimes blocked my eyes. I had to learn what was really valuable. And I realize that depending on your point of view, the world looks different for everyone. Let's just go into the details from this point...
Here you can find fresh art: life rages on a few square centimeters. For feeding, there are all kinds of seed birds. Come a little closer. Here there is only good to get - fresh art.
This is already a snippet of other quirky and bizarre habitats that I develop with my collages. Let's get carry away and ramble on! Celebrate with me the art of slowness.

I send you a very personal greeting from the beautiful Bad Pyrmont. Look forward to this postcard from me.
Please send me a postcard as long as the stock lasts
The original collage measures about 8 x 8 cm. The scale is about one to one. The remains of a palm seed capsule form the frame of this ultra-small habitat. I often find something like that here in the Bad Pyrmonter Kurpark. What the palm trees drop, I like to bring to art. Compost would have been the alternative. The extravagant wings, by the way, do not come from a butterfly. No. These are the wings of a grasshopper. This specimen of the rare grasshopper was already dead. No animal was harmed! I was able to save the extraordinary wings and bring them to a higher destiny in this extraordinary works. You're welcome! And honestly: I was once again completely unintentional on the road. Strictly speaking, I had hoped to be able to observe wild horses during this walk. Unfortunately, I haven't discovered a single one. Well. Maybe I didn't look closely enough...
I was really happy with my alternative find. So have fun with the two balzening cranes 🙂

By the way, on the postage stamp of the card you will find a picture of one of my artworks as well. The title of the original is "Augenblick"which means blink of an eye. In this collage I placed a real butterfly wing. No worry, this butterfly has been able to experience its natural end of life. As I said, this is a matter of detail in every respect.
By sending this postcard I like to promise you a slice of Heaven - the name of the butterfly is "Heaven butterfly". Its grandiose blue shines in the truest sense. Because it does not come from color pigments, but is created solely by reflection - one of the countless wonders of nature.
So if you give your address, the celestial butterfly will soon flutter into your house.
